
When weekend meteorologist Sven Sundgaard joined the KARE 11 weather team in March 2006, he already knew his way around the office. Sven had interned at KARE 11 in 2002 while he was pursuing his meteorology degree at St. Cloud State University. Sven recently earned his American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval of the American Meteorological Society.
Prior to his staff position at KARE, Sven was Chief Meteorologist at KBJR-TV in Duluth-Superior where he has worked since 2003. A native Minnesotan, Sven was born in St. Paul and raised in Cottage Grove. When he's not working, he enjoys camping, and running. He also enjoys traveling, especially to Norway and Sweden to visit relatives. Click to hear Sven speak Norwegian.
