Hey Everyone: The blog has moved.
Though they didn't move the blogs in the best way (since the blog has a new link, which is a big rule in blogging: DON'T change your link.)
This is part of kare11.com's new look and design. I've been blogging for a couple weeks in the new link, but I've received many e-mails from you who can't find it because of bookmarks, etc...
The new link is:
http://www.kare11.com/blog/sundgaard.aspx
You can also go to kare11.com and click on our pictures as they fly by at the bottom of the page to get our blogs...
Thanks! Sorry for the run-around!

Sis, Me, Dad (oh, and Thirsty)- Gobble Gait
'07
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving,
and enjoyable long weekend (for many). I did have
Thanksgiving itself, off but worked the other
days. My dad, sister, and I did the Gobble Gait
race again this year in Hastings. It's an 8K (or
about 5 miles), but was rather cold! Certainly
the coldest either of us had run in yet this
season. We had a great dinner later in the day.
Notice in the picture above, how big Thirsty's
getting! It's insane. We were just looking at
pictures of her from the summer when she was just
a small, fuzzy puppy! She's turning into a
beautiful dog though.
On another note, despite the two days of cold
we had around the holiday, November is shaping up
to be a rather mild one. We're averaging nearly 4
degrees above normal for the month (in the same
leage as November of 2004 as the warmest of the
last 5 years). On another, maybe more noticable
note, the lack of snow! We've only had a trace of
snowfall for the month. The normal (average over
time, in our case, 30 year average) snowfall for
November is about 10 inches! It's doubtful we'll
make up for it in the next few days. We also
average 1.94" of liquid precipitation (either
rain or snow to water equivalent). We've only had
0.09"! That, after 3 very wet months August-
October. Just when you think the weather in
Minnesota is crazy... it just got crazier!

Me, Grandma, Grandpa at Dinner
Last night I took my grandma out for dinner for her belated
birthday (I worked Sunday so couldn't then). If you missed the
last blog post, grandma turned 87 on Sunday. In a couple months
grandpa turns 89, and his sister, my great aunt Laura turns 100!
It's very encouraging to be surrounded by some relatives that
are living long and living well...
I also made a brief visit to Duluth early this week that
includes a blast from the past (as in before I was even born)
that I hope to blog about for tonight/tomorrow...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA & SIS!!!
Yesterday marked a birthday for both my
grandma Marion and my sister Sonja. Grandma
turned 87 and my sister turned 25. My sister I
guess, was a bit of a birthday present to my
grandma back on Nov. 18, 1982! For me as an
older brother, it marked the end of 670 days
(1.84 years) as a single child! Now a new baby
would get all the attention! :-)

Grandma turned 87, Sonja turned 25.
Speaking of aging and a milestone. My car
reached 100,000 miles last week. Never before
have I actually witnessed the change-over as it
happend with a car from 99,999 miles to 100,000
miles. It was quite the experience! I
hadphotographed the 99,999 point and 100,000
point of course. My car has been pretty
trustworthy and I hope it continues to be at
this important mark and after...
** A NOTE: Some of you have e-mailed me
worried I took the picture while going almost 60
mph, I should have said I DID NOT take the
photo, the passenger took the photo... worry
not...**.

99,999 Miles!
100,000 Miles!

Abby Asks: Are You Ready for Winter?

Abby's getting ready. Her winter coat has
been coming in the last several weeks as it's
become colder. The last week really is kicking
her into high gear.
As a human running outside in yet another
mild November day, winter seems far off yet. In
Minnesota and Wisconsin, though we know better.
A few mild days means little.

What a day Sunday! 63 degrees in the Twin
Cities, even 70 in Jackson, MN. The record for
yesterday was 64, so it's a bit warm for the
time of year. I spent it doing a 13.2 mile run
yesterday, knowing that if I didn't do a nice
long(er) run in this weather, where I could wear
summer running apparel, I'd kick myself in a few
weeks when winter's here!

Running!
What a day!
Also, It's been a long while since I've
posted a video-blog, so here's one from
yesterday. I'm just running, certainly nothing
too exciting, but I was about about 12.2 miles
at this point!

Sorry for the pause in blogging. Yesterday I was 'on campus.'
Well a couple of them actually. First I was at the U of M shooting a
couple Simply Science segments that will air in the coming weeks (on
those pesky box elder bugs and asian lady beetles). I then spent the
afternoon at St. Cloud State University talking to (mainly) freshman
students interested in a major/career in meteorology. The course,
professional meteorology, is a one credit course to discuss the
various career opportunities in the field of meteorology, broadcast
TV being just one of those careers. I was fortunate enough to
represent 'the field.' Luckily, this was an occasion I remembered my
camera and snapped a few quick pictures in passing to give you a few
tid bits of my college life back so long ago! (Or about 4 to 8 years
ago).

Shoemaker Hall. Where I lived my junior year of college, across
the street from the Math/Science building (where I essentially lived
for a few years also!)
The Math/Science Building at St. Cloud State.
It's just so funny to be talking to these 'kids,' about careers
and it seems like just yesterday I graduated. To many 4 1/2 years is
yesterday, but those 4 1/2 years have gone by so fast and continue
to go by faster and faster!

Ah, yes. The halls in Math/Science I wandered so many
times.

We received a couple, perhaps last mild days
of fall to enjoy before the most statistically
cloudy time of year arrived (Nov-Dec). As you
may or may not know, Tuesday warmed up to a
balmy, but not record-setting, 70 degrees. My
parents and myself decided to take a stroll at
the Minnehaha Falls. One of our favorite parks.
Thankfully after 3 months of rain they're
flowing well!

The Great Minnehaha Falls
With the 'Rents.
I learned an interesting fact I didn't know
before, and likely reglected to read on one of
the many plaques. When President Lyndon Johnson
visited the Falls visited the falls in 1964, it
was yet another drought year such as this was.
They turned on all the fire hydrants along the
path of the Minnehaha Creek in order to get the
falls flowing for the President. Seems silly
now, doesn't it?

Well, my dad and I found ourselves in
the midst of another race yesterday
morning- don't worry, it was 'just' a 10 K
(6.2 miles for non-metric users). Boy was
it chilly!

Frost on the pumpkins AND GRASS!
I finished around 51 minutes, 20
seconds, or something like that (about 8:17
pace, minutes/mile avg).

Me just before the Finish Line.
