GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Nutrition experts will tell you, there's no substitute for a good breakfast.

Thursday on KARE 11 Sunrise, Tim McNiff took things to the extreme (as he sometimes does), facing off with competitive eater Eric "The Silo" Dahl of Delano.

Dahl is ranked as the nation's top collegiate competitive eater, and has dominated contests involving pulled pork, pizza, hobos, hot dogs, and all sorts of other fare. At 6 foot 3, 220 pounds, he has an athlete's build, and the eye of the tiger when it comes to eating.

The Silo has been written up in a number of publications, and those who know the sport of competitive eating say he is the real deal.

When the bell rang in the KARE 11 Backyard Tim, who dubbed himself "The Twister" in an act of false bravado, gave it his best... but he took a serious whuppin' from the Silo, who pounded 9 Perkins pancakes in a minute. Witnesses say Tim was lucky if he managed two, causing him to slink away quietly while The Silo basked in the admiration of the morning crew.
