Looking fierce, Lorde!
The "Green Light" singer strikes a pose on the June cover of Elle magazine, wearing a Dior midnight-blue jumpsuit embellished with head-to-toe glittering crystals. The 20-year-old completed the look with a pair of classic black Dior pumps.
Lorde went for a decidedly different, but equally rocker-chic, look on the inside of the mag, pairing a Gucci graphic tank and leggings with denim shorts by Grlfrnd Denim. She accessorized with a Cartier necklace and rings by David Yurman and Tiffany & Co.
In Elle's Women in Music Issue -- which features an additional cover starring Missy Elliott -- Lorde opens up about life outside the spotlight in her native New Zealand and why she struggled to record her sophomore album in Los Angeles.
"Everyone's making music in L.A. now -- which is great if you aren't the shyest, most introverted nerd," she confessed. "I found it a little too social. I made my first record in New Zealand with very little discourse—I was just my own unit. In L.A., it's very, 'Oh, what project are you working on?' I was like, 'I need to be out of this.'"
Meanwhile, the card-carrying Taylor Swift's Squad member says that staying connected with longtime friends at home has kept her grounded in her creative process.
"That's why I am so passionate about going home," she said. "Most of my friends are people I knew before I was famous. I'm very thankful that I never feel like the smartest person in the room, or the coolest person in the room, or the funniest. When I'm there, I'm just there. People forget that I've done anything. They say, 'Ella's this weird old dowager with a nice house.'"
That doesn't mean Lorde can't have a little fun with her A-list pals in the States, too! Guests for her 20th birthday bash in New York City included Swift, Karlie Kloss, Aziz Ansari, Lena Dunham, Mae Whitman and Rachel Antonoff. Get the details, below.
