Minnesota Monthly's Fine Spirits Classic

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- If you enjoy a nice cocktail, there is a great event for you. Minnesota Monthly Magazine is presenting its 4th Annual Fine Spirits Classic, with more than 60 spirits to sample from all over the world.

Callie Andersen, Marketing and PR Manager of Minnesota Monthly, came by KARE 11 Saturday to discuss the event.

Andersen also shared a few drink recipes that will be featured at the Fine Spirits Classic.


Recipe Courtesy of Lake Superior Vodka

2 oz. Lake Superior Vodka

1/2 oz. grapefruit juice

3/4 oz. lime juice

3/4 oz. simple syrup

Combine ingredients in an ice-filled shaker and shake until chilled. Pour into a cocktail glass.

1 1/2 oz. Uncle Val's Botanical Gin

1/2 fresh lime

1/2 oz. simple syrup

Fresh mint

In a shaker muddle mint, lime & simple syrup. Add UVBG, ice and shake. Pour into a highball glass, top with soda and ice.

1.3 oz. George Dickel No. 12® Whisky

1 tsp. cane syrup

1 lemon disc (pinched)

Build in a rocks glass, swizzle with a small amount of crushed ice, then add 1 cube.

1 1/2 Parts Casamigos Blanco Tequila

3/4 Part Fresh Lime Juice

1/2 Part Agave Nectar

5 to 8 Raspberries

Combine all ingredients with ice. Shake and pour into a rocks glass.

Minnesota Monthly's 4th Annual Fine Spirits Classic is Thursday, July 30, 2015, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Minneapolis Event Centers. There will be over 60 different spirits to sample, along with hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants including La Grolla, Bloomington Chop House, Eat Street Social, Bonefish Grill and Fogo de Chao. There will also be multiple mixology stations presented by Bittercube, where you can learn how to make the perfect craft cocktail.

General Admission tickets are $45 in advance online, or $55 at the door.
