MINNEAPOLIS--The Salvation Army hosts the MOST Amazing Race on Saturday, July 26. The event is an official event of the Aquatennial. The MOST Amazing Race sends 30 teams around Minneapolis to perform physical and mental challenges. First team to the finish line wins $5,000, courtesy of presenting sponsor CenterPoint Energy.
The event was created by the Twin Cities Salvation Army in 2006 to raise funds for its food and housing programs. Teams of two raise a minimum of $200 in donations to participate in a qualifying event held the morning of the race; up to 10 teams can skip the qualifier by being top fundraisers. Last year the race brought in more than $133,000 in charity donations.
The big event starts and finishes at the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis. Teams who meet the $200 fundraising minimum by June 30 are eligible to win a pair of tickets to see Journey at the State Fair on September 1.
