Twins announce return of Midwest Music Showcase

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Fans attending select Twins games this summer will take in more than the usual hits, runs and errors.

They'll also get a dose of cutting edge Midwestern Music.

The Twins and 96.3 K-TWIN on Friday announced the return of Twins Midwest Music Showcase in 2014, a series of ten live music events occurring during Twins games at Target Field.

Every Wednesday home game from May through September, local bands will perform original songs live from the left field balcony during pregame, inning breaks and pitching changes.

"The Twins Midwest Music Showcase is a great way for us to feature some talented local musicians while we continue to explore ways to evolve our in-game experience," said Joe Pohlad, Director of Twins Productions and Creative Services.

The Midwest Music Showcase schedule includes:

  • 5/14 - Tapes 'n Tapes
  • 5/28 - Mark Mallman
  • 6/4 - Pennyroyal
  • 7/2 - Odd Fathers
  • 7/23 - Trailer Trash
  • 8/6 -Cactus Blossoms
  • 8/20 - Crankshaft
  • 9/3 - Special Guest TBA
  • 9/17 - Tina and the B-Sides
  • 9/24 - Local contest winner

In addition, local bands will have the opportunity to perform at Target Field by participating in "The Sound Factor" contest.

Local musicians are encouraged to send samples of their work for on-air consideration to 96.3 K-TWIN, the radio home of the Minnesota Twins. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of station judges including Bobby Z, drummer for Prince and the Revolution and host of the "The Sound" (Sunday nights at 8 p.m.) on 96.3 K-TWIN, which features Minnesota artists and their works.

The station judges and Bobby Z will select three finalists. Fans will then get the opportunity to vote for their favorite of the three bands, with the winner performing live at Target Field on Wednesday, September 24.

"We're looking forward to hearing some of the cool and unique music local bands submit for 'The Sound
Factor' contest," said Bobby Z. "We'll play some of the submissions on my show, 'The Sound,' and one
lucky winner will get to play in front of thousands of fans at Target Field."

Submissions should be sent with one song and brief band/performer bio to:
