MINNEAPOLIS - The Purple Philanthropy Music and Arts Fair was held Sunday at the Minnesota Orchestra Hall.
The event aimed to commemorate the legacy of Prince as well as benefit The Purple Philanthropy Fund by The Twin Cities Mobile Jazz Project.
The pre-concert art fair and silent auction was hosted by Sheila E.
"We see things on social media and where fans have created artwork and jewelry and things like that and say, 'wow this is beautiful how people are expressing themselves!' So why not do something for them, for the fans?" she said.
A benefit concert featuring Sheila E. and other musicians is planned for Sunday night.
Organizers put out the call for fan-created Prince-themed artwork that was auctioned off on Sunday.
Kelly Werkheiser came from Pennsylvania and was one of the artists selected for the benefit.
"I made these tribute pieces that I never intended to go beyond a fashion show or my own personal wear. Then this came up and I thought it was time to give back." Werkheiser said.
