The Revolution tribute concert at First Avenue

MINNEAPOLIS - Downtown Minneapolis was the place to be for Prince fans Thursday night.

"An Evening with The Revolution" is being held at First Avenue and the first of three sold-out shows was Thursday night.

Fans as far away as Australia and England showed up to the concert which featured The Revolution, Wendy and Lisa, Brownmark, Dr. Fink and Bobby Z with special guests Dez Dickerson and Andre Cymone.

"As soon as they said it was going to feature The Revolution, I said, 'We gotta go! This is fantastic," said one fan from Texas.

Bassist Andre Cymone signed autographs for some fans before the concert.

"It's really sad he (Prince) is not here, but I think his spirit is here and it definitely lives in the band we're apart of," Cymone said.

Prince formed The Revolution in 1979 and rose to international fame in the mid 1980s with Purple Rain. The band was one of the most successful music acts of the 1980s and sold over 16 million albums in the U.S. alone.
