2020 watch: Klobuchar visits Iowa Sunday

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar made a couple of stops in Iowa Sunday, fueling speculation she may be eyeing a White House run in 2020.

The two-term senator from Minnesota, however, is not showing her cards. At least not yet.

“I was invited to come down here,” Klobuchar told The Des Moines Register when asked if this early visit to Iowa hinted at a presidential run. “I was invited because I think the party leaders down here, after a tough election … want to focus on moving forward.”

Klobuchar's visit to the first-in-the-nation caucus state also drew the attention of the New York Times.

Klobuchar attended a meeting among Linn County democrats in Marion, Iowa before embarking to Des Moines for the Polk County Democrats’ spring fundraising dinner on Sunday night. She delivered a 38-minute speech focusing on economic policy for middle-income Americans.
