ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota DNR is encouraging adults to Take a Kid Fishing this weekend.
Any Minnesotan over the age of 16 can take a child 15 or younger fishing in Minnesota waters without a license from June 9-11.
The DNR has a list of fishing opportunities in the Twin Cities area, as well as spots around the state on its website.
This weekend also includes "National Get Outdoors Day." The DNR is celebrating on Saturday, June 10 with free admission to all Minnesota State Parks.
Park visitors can hike trails, visit historic sites, and go fishing for free in all of the 75 Minnesota State parks and recreation areas. Several parks are also planning special events to coincide with the day. Visit the DNR's website for a full list.
