Volunteers needed to fight hunger in Minnesota

Helping to feed the hungry over the holidays

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - In this season of giving, hunger is continuing to grow around the country and right here in the Heartland. In fact, one in 10 people living in Minnesota and western Wisconsin will spend the holiday season with empty plates and empty stomachs.

Second Harvest Heartland believes no one should go hungry. Individuals and families can help give hungry neighbors who are facing hard times something to be truly thankful for this holiday season. Help Second Harvest Heartland provide 20 million meals to our neighbors by volunteering or donating.

• Volunteer – Every day, Second Harvest Heartland needs more than 300 volunteers to help get food to people in need. Their warehouses in Maplewood and Golden Valley offer a variety of experiences for individuals and groups. This is a great opportunity during the holiday season to gather together with family and friends to ensure all our hungry neighbors are getting enough food to eat.

• Donate – Every $1 you donate to will provide three holiday meals to our neighbors in need.
