GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - It's week 2 of KARE 11's Great Green Challenge and Laura Betker goes dumpster diving.
This week's challenge theme is to "Look in the Bin."
We're taking stock of what recyclables the KARE 11 employees throw in the trash. Andre Xiong helps distinguish the trash from the not trash.
Plastic bottle and pop cans of course are recyclable, although there were plenty in our garbage. Plastic fast food containers and cups are also recyclable, as long as you rinse them clean.
Paper fast food cups and coffee cups are not recyclable.
So we don't keep making the same mistakes, we're taping a recycling guide to each of our recycling bins so we know what should go in them.
Here are some websites where you can print off signs for your bins:
Want to take it a step further? Snap some photos of recyclables that ended up in the trash and display them, or send them to your coworkers in an email!
Remember to share your photos and stories with us via facebook, twitter, or email as you join us in the Great Green Challenge!
