MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. -- Julie Poppitz likes to motivate her kids. She did it last year when she helped her students participate in KARE 11's Gridiron Geography contest.
Her second graders at Mendota Heights Elementary not only scored enough correct answers to be entered in the contest to win $1100 courtesy of the Minnesota Vikings, they ended up winning the jackpot.
So, when Mrs. Poppitz's class was entered again this year, Mrs. Poppitz didn't expect much. Imagine her surprise when KARE 11's Kim Insley pulled Mrs. Poppitz's class name out of the helmet for a second year running.
Tim McNiff went to the school recently to present the check, and the kids were decked out in their Vikings colors to cheer him on.
Mrs. Poppitz used the money last year to purchase netbooks for her classroom. A matching donation helped the money go even farther.
"This year's money, we're hoping to use for probably another technology-tyhpe venture. But, we're kind of keeping our options open," said Mrs. Poppitz.
