MINNEAPOLIS -- Due to the extreme heat, the Red, White & BOOM! Half Marathon in Minneapolis on July 4 has been shortened to five miles.

The event will begin at 6:30 a.m., the originally scheduled start time. The five-mile race course will start near the original start location along SE Main Street by Father Hennepin Bluffs Park. Runners will still have a picturesque finish along the Stone Arch Bridge and enjoy their post-race finish in the park.

Participants of Red, White and BOOM! will recieve a short sleeve t-shirt, collectable pint glass, medals for all finishers, awards to top finishers, post-race food with picnic favorites, post-race entertainment and support from volunteers, law enforcement, medical teams and staff.
