The
Gannett Foundation, is a corporate foundation
sponsored by
Gannett Co., Inc. We give grants to organizations in the
communities in which Gannett owns a daily newspaper or television station.
The Gannett Foundation's mission is to invest in the future of the communities in which Gannett does business, and in the future of our industry.
We value projects that take a creative approach to fundamental issues such as education and neighborhood improvement, economic development, youth development, community problem-solving, assistance to disadvantaged people, environmental conservation and cultural enrichment.
Local Guidelines
KARE 11 adheres to the guidelines described on the Gannett Foundation's website.
In addition to the guidelines on the Gannett Foundation's website , KARE 11 does not consider funding for the following purposes:
- Consecutive year funding
- Scholarships/Endowments
- Capital expenditures, including equipment
- General Operating expenditures, including salaries
- Start-up monies for programs
- Short-term projects including:
Sponsorships/Individuals/Events/Conferences/Seminars
Average grant amount is $1,000 - $4,000
KARE 11 reviews grant applications on an annual basis. All applications must be postmarked by February 15 for consideration.
A complete application must include the official Gannett Foundation Grant Application.

Notification Process
Applications will be read and decisions made in the month following the deadline. Organizations receiving funds will be notified by mail and checks will be delivered in approximately eight to twelve weeks.
