Sandwich Generation: Rebuilding together Twin Cities

Sandwich Generation: Seniors helping seniors

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Retired with plenty of time on your hands...  or looking to give back to the community?

Volunteering for Rebuilding Together Twin Cities may be right in your wheelhouse. The group relies on volunteers throughout the year to make necessary repairs and safety modifications for homeowners in need.

Executive Director Kathy Greiner and volunteer Tom Keljik appeared on KARE-TV to talk about ways seniors can get involved. Retired Honeywell employees recently formed a ramp building crew. The crew comes together to build around six ramps each year. Since 2012, they have built a total of 30 ramps equaling a total donated time of 4,368 hours valuing over $110,000.

Rebuilding Together Twin Cities is a community revitalization partner that works with low-income homeowners to make critical home repairs, allowing families to live in safe, warm and healthy homes.
