ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Paul Fire Station No. 1 and No. 10 merged in 2010 when the new station opened on West 7th Street. The new station is amazing and one of the coolest amenities was a green roof that was installed.
This roof is unlike any other. There are 12 different unique gardens, 39 planters around the edges that each weigh 450 lbs. There is a water feature, a sitting area and beautiful paver sidewalks that wind through the entire garden.
The best part, if you ask the firefighters, is the 120 square foot vegetable garden that they tend themselves. This is the first full season that they have grown their organic veggies and herbs and they have had a bumper crop to cook from.
Thanks to all the fire fighters for inviting us over for the tour and that great lunch. Thanks, Andrea; it was so tasty!
