WELCH, Minn. - Ralph and Carren Lauseng in Welch had a bundle of apples that they weren't sure what to do with. In fact, 500 apple trees were growing on their beautiful hillside orchard.
They heard about Fruits of the City and knew it would be a good fit for them. On a sunny, crisp day, thirty volunteers from Target and Blue Cross And Blue Shield showed up along with Second Harvest Heartland to glean. In three hours, they had nearly 6,000 pounds of beautiful apples to share.
Fruits of the City is a great organization that you can help with very easily by volunteering or letting them know if you have extra fruit from your trees to donate.
The apples go to 15 local food shelves and will help give them healthy, local produce.
Great job!
