New Klondike Kate crowned for Winter Carnival

ST. PAUL - A new Klondike Kate has been crowned as part of the annual Saint Paul Winter Carnival.

Kathy Rustin-Westphal of Saint Paul Park was bestowed the honor Wednesday night in Oakdale.

Rustin-Westphal is an archery enthusiast, has 2 children and has worked at 3M for 25 years.

The five Klondike Kate contestants for 2014 were judged on singing, costume and authenticity.

Klondike Kate plays a big role in the upcoming Winter Carnival, bringing music and merriment to activities.

She will also make more than 100 appearances throughout the year.

The Winter Carnival run January 23 through February 2.
