The fight between passengers and a Metro Transit driver broke out Thursday evening.

MINNEAPOLIS - Metro Transit is investigating following another physical altercation between passengers and a bus driver.

The incident happened Thursday evening on the corner of Nicollet Mall and 7th Street in downtown Minneapolis.

According to a witness, who posted a video of the fight on his Facebook page, the brawl occurred on the Metro Transit's southbound route 18A. The video shows two men who were passengers on the bus pummeling the driver on the sidewalk just outside the bus doors.

"Prayers for a speedy recovery of this guy who is simply doing his job. Violence is unacceptable and nobody should feel in danger by simply performing their job," he wrote.

(Editor's note: Video may need to be viewed in full screen.)

Howie Padilla, public relations manager of Metro Transit, said they are investigating the incident. He didn't elaborate on what may have set the fight off, or how the men got outside the bus.

There is also no word on the condition of the bus driver.

The incident comes two days after a man was charged with third-degree assault and interfering with the operation of a transit vehicle for a separate attack on a Metro Transit bus driver on April 10.

That case was also captured on video. At that point, the union for Metro Transit drivers called attention to the video, saying it underlines the danger drivers face every day they get behind the wheel. Leaders say extra security measures are needed.
