MINNEAPOLIS - It can be challenging enough navigating the Twin Cities. Add an estimated one million people for Super Bowl 52? Yikes!
That's why the City of Minneapolis and the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee have launched an online resource, dubbed Know Before You Go, for residents and visitors looking to participate, or avoid, all the events surrounding the big game.
Super Bowl LIVE Road Closures (Nicollet Mall and 8th Street)
Nicollet Mall from Sixth Street to 12th Street, along with Eighth Street between LaSalle and Marquette avenues, will be closed for Super Bowl LIVE Friday, Jan. 26-Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018. Super Bowl LIVE is the free, 10-day festival leading up to Super Bowl 52 on Sunday, Feb. 4.
The streets crossing Nicollet will remain open during the event (from Sixth to 12th) but will be reduced from three to two travel lanes.
Street closures begin Monday, Jan. 15 for Nicollet and on Friday, Jan. 19 for Eighth Street. Crews are scheduled to remove Super Bowl LIVE attractions Feb. 5-7. The roadways will reopen after that or sooner.
Pedestrian access and sidewalks along Nicollet and Eighth Street will remain open during the event.
Super Bowl Experience Road Closures (Minneapolis Convention Center)
Second Avenue and Grant Street adjacent to the Convention Center will be closed and open to permit holders only Jan. 24-Feb. 7, 2018 for the Super Bowl Experience, the NFL's interactive theme park scheduled for Jan. 26-Feb. 2.
The streets around the Convention Center on all sides will have intermittent closures, including First Avenue South, Third Avenue South and 16th Street East. Event removals will take place Feb. 4-Feb. 7. Streets will reopen thereafter or sooner.
Super Bowl 52/US Bank Stadium Road Closures
Super Bowl LII is tentatively scheduled to start 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4.
The city says event removal will start after the game with streets reopening Monday, Feb. 5. A few streets, however, will remain closed through Sunday, Feb. 11.
Parking
Downtown Minneapolis has more than 65,000 parking spots available for Super Bowl-related events.
Under reserved parking, fans will be able to pre-purchase a parking spot for any event in downtown Minneapolis at a guaranteed rate.
Minneapolis has about 8,000 metered parking spaces. Click here for more about rates, time limits and hours of enforcement.
Downtown commuters should check with their parking operator to ensure your contract parking spots will be available during Super Bowl events.
Snow Ordinance
Chances are pretty good residents and visitors may be dealing with some snow in early February. Minneapolis may declare a Snow Emergency, where, under certain conditions, street parking is not allowed on certain streets on certain days. Find more information here.
