Inventures: Storm Creek embraces the cold with outwear

Storm Creek and KARE 11 have teamed up to #Embracethecold with hats. A portion of the proceeds benefits Special Olympics Minnesota.

HASTINGS, Minn - Doug Jackson began creating embroidered jackets, vests, shirts and other gear for companies back in 1995 but his love for outerwear began long before that.

He and his family moved from Wanamingo Minnesota to the smaller town of Welch when he was nine years old. “I hated it I was so mad at first but we started skiing. Later I had some friends call me jacket Jackson. I always wanted to go get a new jacket. I had more jackets than I had jeans,”Jackson said.

In 2006 he and his wife Teresa Fudenberg started Storm Creek after Teresa left her career in business and marketing to jump in to building the company together.

"Finally, it was kind of like. It made sense the way we were building this business without a name and so now we are following that and it’s been a cool discovery for us," Fudenberg said.

Their outdoor gear is made for adventure. Jackets, hats, vests, shirts and just about anything outdoor apparel you would need.

They employ about 25 people in their Hastings shop where they embroider the clothes, take orders and ship them out. "I think we have both been those people that are hardwired to be those people who work all the time and are constantly on and if that's the case, it's nice to do that and build it together," Fudenberg said.
