Taking KARE of Business: Music, food and polls

MINNEAPOLIS - Music, food and election polls! What more do you need?

Well okay. Maybe a lot more than that, but those three topics are the subject of this week's "Taking KARE of Business with Dale Kurschner of Twin Cities Business.

Amazon has upped it's music game by releasing "Amazon Music Unlimited". It's $10 a month or $8, if you're a Prime member and will compete with the likes of Spotify and Apple Music.

"It's the Holy Grail of retail. To do a membership plan where you can then track everything about your members, so you can better cater to your member's interest. Supposedly both sides win," said Kurschner.

Now you don't need to be a member to shop at Whole Foods, just extra cash. The chain is expected to open stores in the low-income neighborhoods of Detroit, Chicago, and soon in Newark, according to the Wall Street Journal.

"When it comes to urban-blighted areas, it's hard for people to get fresh produce or much of anything in terms of healthy food. And, so, it'll be interesting to see if they can make that work from a revenue perspective," Kurschner said.

We're less than four weeks from Election Day. Twin Cities Business recently asked nearly 150 business leaders across Minnesota who they plan to vote for.

The results were tight: 34% for Donald Trump to 32% for Hillary Clinton.

"When you hear about some of the things that Clinton has said about tax policy, from a business perspective it's not as welcoming as a typical Republican candidate normally would be. So, to see she was only trailing by two percent and 24% were undecided was pretty telling about the Republican choice," Kurschner said.

The poll was conducted on Sept. 30th.
