$10 gets you unlimited JonnyPops at the State Fair

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - On a hot day at the Minnesota State Fair, there's nothing better than an icy cool treat. But one local vendor is taking that to the extreme.

For $10, fairgoers can treat themselves to an unlimited amount of junior JonnyPops for the day at this year's Great Minnesota Get-Together. The local frozen pop company is launching the effort this year, in the hopes of inspiring more than 100,000 acts of kindness by those who participate.

Beyond being an all-natural, delicious treat, JonnyPops prints a suggested act of kindness on each stick and just for the fair, they'll be printing special acts of kindness specifically written for the annual Minnesota event -- like, "Thank a worker who showed kindness" or "Share your sunscreen on a sunny day."

The company, which was started by four St. Olaf students, is hoping to collect these sticks in a special machine, to tally the acts of kindness throughout the fair.

The goal is 100,000 good deeds. But if they get 150,000 -- JonnyPops will make a $2,500 donation to nonprofit organizations that support addiction recovery. The company donates annually in the memory of one of the founders, Jonathan Jeffrey, who died from a drug overdose.

The junior pops come in five flavors -- Strawberries & Cream, Coffee Chocolate & Cream, Raspberries Blueberries & Cream, Strawberry Banana & Cream and Pineapple Coconut & Cream.

This is the second all-you-can-eat offering at the fair, right behind the long-standing all-you-can-drink milk booth.
