2 men found dead overnight in separate cases

ST. PAUL - Police say a man was shot to death in St. Paul early Sunday morning. Officers were called to the 800 block of Rice Street just after 1:30 a.m. Officers found the man on a sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police don't believe the shooting was random and no suspect is in custody. This is the City of St. Paul's 12th homicide in 2017.

Meanwhile, Minneapolis homicide investigators are looking into an unrelated overnight death. Police got a call about an unresponsive man at the intersection of Park Avenue South and 16th Street East in Minneapolis. The 911 tipster said the man was holding a gun. When officers and paramedics got there, the man was dead, but officials have not revealed the cause.
