New at the State Fair

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. – The Great Minnesota Get Together starts next week and there are a variety of new things to see in 2014.

Brienna Schuette, Marketing and Communications Manager for the Minnesota State Fair, came by KARE Saturday to highlight these attractions:

1. West End Market – The transformed area includes: an open-air market, a neighborhood featuring entertainment, specialty shops, food and beverage establishments and the new Minnesota State Fair History & Heritage Center, which serves as the transit hub for Express and Park & Ride buses arriving to and departing from the fairgrounds.

2. Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show is The North Woods' newest attraction featuring talented rescue dogs. These former pound puppies conquer big-air stunts, catch Frisbees mid-air, race through weave poles and showcase their incredible high-jumping skills. This event is free with fair admission and is located in The North Woods. Shows are at 11 a.m., 2 & 4:30 p.m. daily.

3. Bull Riders of America – This action-packed event features 30 competitors from throughout the Midwest riding on bucking bulls for eight seconds and vying for points and thousands of dollars. Jerry Wayne Olson, his truck-jumping Palomino and his trick pony provide the evening's entertainment. This event is free with fair admission and is located in the Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum. It takes place on August 26 at 6 p.m.
