7-year-old girl, 26-year-old man killed in crash

HIBBING, Minn. - The Minnesota State Patrol says a child and a young man were killed in a two-vehicle crash on the Iron Range Saturday night.

Authorities say around 11:55 p.m. Saturday, two men were traveling in a Dodge Ram southbound on County Road 25 when they collided with a Hyundai Elantra at the intersection of Highway 169 and County Road 25, east of Hibbing.

The State Patrol says the 26-year-old pickup truck driver, Jason Gates, of Superior, Wis., died and 7-year-old Snowden Bothwell, of Hibbing, Minn., was also killed the crash.

Bothwell was a passenger in the Elantra with four other people from Hibbing. Avery Bothwell, 15, suffered life-threatening injuries, according to the state patrol. Authorities say Maegen Hunt, 39, Kaelen M. Dolinsek, 19, and Samuel Bothwell, 4, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The passenger in the pickup, Joshua Johnson, 24, of Superior, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the patrol.
