EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - A 9-year-old boy was rescued from a thick marsh Tuesday afternoon, after he wandered away from a summer camp in Eden Prairie.
Police received a 911 call around 11:30 a.m. reporting the boy as missing, with the caller stating they believed he walked away from Camp Eden Wood on Indian Chief Road.
Eden Prairie officers, along with the fire department, Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol, the state DNR and others were able to locate the boy sitting on a beaver dam in the middle of a swamp area around 1 p.m.
Authorities moved in to help the boy out, as the entire area is surrounded by a thick marsh, which made it tough to navigate.
The marsh area is next to the grounds of Camp Eden Wood.
The boy was evaluated by Hennepin County Medical Center paramedics at the scene but appeared to be OK.
