MINNEAPOLIS - Four police officers are on standard paid administrative leave following the shooting of a suspect in Minneapolis late Wednesday night.
Acting Chief Janee Harteau says officers responded to an alert of gunfire from the city's shot spotter technology around 11 p.m. in the area of 37th Street East and Elliot Avenue South.
A suspicious vehicle was seen leaving the area when police arrived on the scene. Officers stopped that car at 38th Street and Columbus Avenue South.
Officers say A passenger from the car fled on foot and fired a handgun at pursuing officers. Officers returned fire and wounded the suspect.
The suspect was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and is expected to survive.
A search recovered a handgun at the scene.
