WATERLOO, Iowa - Iowa has sent back 22-year-old man back to Minnesota to face charges that he fatally stabbed his mother and one of his nephews.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that Ishmael Roberts was extradited to Minneapolis on Thursday. Roberts has been charged with two counts of intentional second-degree murder in the deaths of 57-year-old Beatrice Wilson and her 14-year-old grandson, Peter, in their Minneapolis home in the early hours of Oct. 29.
Roberts had been held in Waterloo at Black Hawk County Jail since his arrest the night of Oct. 29. Police say Roberts was taken into custody after he crashed his mother's car in Waterloo.
Online court records indicate those charges have been dismissed in favor of the Minnesota case, but the Iowa charges could be reinstated later.
