MINNEAPOLIS - The Minneapolis Police Department says a man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault that occurred as the victim walked to St. Catherine's University. The assault occurred on November 19 near West River Parkway and 27th Avenue South.
According to Public Information Officer Sgt. Stephen McCarty, the 48-year-old man was arrested after security at Regions Hospital in St. Paul received complaints of a man approaching females near the hospital's parking lot. The man was arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant and booked in the Ramsey County Jail.
A Ramsey County Deputy who assisted in the arrest noticed the man in custody bore a striking resemblance to a composite sketch of the suspect in the Minneapolis sexual assault.
Ramsey County authorities notified the Minneapolis investigator assigned to the sexual assault case. Sergeant David Mattson interviewed the man in custody about his involvement. Soon after, he was transported to the Hennepin County Jail and booked for Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First Degree.
