BECKER COUNTY, Minn. - The State Patrol says a 25-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Becker County late Thursday night.
The accident happened near the intersection of Highway 10 and 2nd Street just after 10:30 p.m. A vehicle traveling east on Hwy. 10 struck a pedestrian who was walking south across the highway in the right lane. There is no crosswalk at the intersection according to the State Patrol
The victim is identified as 25-year-old Shelby Somerville from Lake Park, Minn. Somerville was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes where he later died. The State Patrol says alcohol was detected in his system at the time of the incident.
A 57-year-old woman from Ottertail, Minn. was the driver of the vehicle. Authorities say she did not suffer any injuries.
The Becker County Sheriff's Office and the Lake Park Police Department assisted with this accident.
