OAKDALE, Minn. - Two fugitives are in custody following a high-speed car chase that wound from western Wisconsin into Minnesota Friday morning.
A spokesman for the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office tells KARE 11 that U.S. Marshals were moving to arrest the men at the Super 8 Hotel in Hudson when they jumped in an SUV and sped off.
Marshals quickly contacted local authorities, who scrambled to help stop the vehicle. While getting on I-94 at Carmichael Road the suspect vehicle struck a Hudson police car before speeding off towards Minnesota.
Police pursued the suspects from Wisconsin into eastern Minnesota as the men drove from Interstate 94 west to I-694, and then off onto Highway 5 where they bailed from the car at a parking lot near LA Fitness.
One man was quickly arrested on the scene but the second escaped. Law enforcement set up a perimeter, and eventually arrested the second fugitive.
A spokesman for the U.S. Marshals says the passenger in the vehicle was wanted on multiple felony warrants, including cases involving drugs and robbery. The driver is being held pending charges that will involve hitting the police car.
