MINNEAPOLIS - Josh Archibald scored early in the third period to lift Nebraska-Omaha to a 3-2 win over third-ranked Minnesota on Friday in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
Archibald also scored earlier in the game for the Mavericks (9-3-1, 5-1-1), who stretched their winning streak to seven games.
Nebraska-Omaha goalie John Faulkner made 19 saves to run his unbeaten record to 8-0-1.
Minnesota led 2-1 after one period. Dominic Zombo staked Nebraska-Omaha to a 1-0 lead just over four minutes into the game. But the Gophers responded with goals by Zach Budish and Christian Isackson to go up 2-1.
The Mavericks tied it on Jaycob Magna's goal at 11:51 of the second.
It stayed that way until the third period, when Archibald scored from in front of the goalie to break the tie.
Minnesota (9-3-2, 4-3-2) saw its six-game unbeaten streak end.
