GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Despite a chilly start, temperatures will warm up quickly Wednesday as mild air surges back north. That mild late day setup will allow the first of three systems to affect Minnesota to drop a few light rain showers later tonight into early Thursday. None of the amounts will be substantial however.

In central Minnesota, where surface temps could be a bit below freezing, there's the possibility of a little freezing precipitation.

The next system will already be moving in Friday, dropping a bit of light snow across southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. The best chance of accumulating snow will likely be south of the Twin Cities, but even there just one inch, maybe two at the most will fall.

The tricky part in these systems will be where the boundary of the cold air and mild air sets up -  that will be the storm track. If this moves a bit (which it has many times already) then we're in for more or less snowfall potential.

All eyes for now are fixed to a Sunday system which offers our best shot of more significant snow. The potential in that system exists for several inches of snow, but that accumulation could fall mainly southeast of the Twin Cities.

Again, it all depends on the precise track of the system, which can change a lot in four days. Stay tuned.
