MINNEAPOLIS - Authorities say a body was recovered Saturday afternoon from the Mississippi River.
Lisa Kiava with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office says they received information around 12:30 p.m. that two homeless men had been camping near 18th Avenue and Marshall Street Northeast when one of the men walked into the water and slipped.
The other man ran for help and alerted two Minneapolis firefighters he found nearby. One of the firefighters entered the river and recovered the man's body 15 feet from shore.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and Minneapolis Police responded to the scene. They continue to investigate the incident.
