GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. --  Before you start bemoaning about how awful the roads were, or are on Sunday, chew on this.

At least it didn't happen 24 hours later than it did.

"It's great that it's a Sunday because we don't have to deal with rush hour traffic. Hope the snow is done by tonight so we are able to have the roads in good driving condition by tomorrow morning," Mn/DOT Spokesman Kent Barnard said Sunday afternoon.

If a Sunday drive is what blows your hair back, yikes. Sorry, today wasn't you day.

"There have been a lot of spinouts, lots of people in the ditch," Barnard said of the state highway system.

And trying to get away from it all in the air wasn't much of an alternative.

As of Sunday afternoon, more than 150 arriving and departing flights out of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) have been cancelled.

Delta Airlines is even offering ticket holders a "no change" fee on tickets good for today to be rescheduled in the next few days.

But if you must fly tonight, or you are expecting someone to fly in, go to the MSP website to check on your flight's status before heading out to the airport.

It's just that kind of day.

One flummoxed for those who work, one fantastic for those who play.

A skier's paradise.

An architect's playground.

"Uh it's for an igloo," Devon said over on the North Side as he built a snow fort with his friends.

No day like a snow day.

Even for the non natives.

"I'm usually from California but snow is better, I like to be out here in Minneapolis where there is a lot of snow," Devon's friend Charles said while he helped build the fort.
