GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Minnesota owned FM 96.3 K-TWIN is adding to its stable of on-air talent with personalities that include KARE 11 anchor Rena Sarigianopoulos, Brian "B.T." Turner and Cane Peterson.
Sarigianopoulos and Peterson will join K-TWIN morning show host and KARE 11 Sports Director Eric Perkins (Perk) to wake up the Twin Cities weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Like Perk, Sarigianopoulos will continue in her role as a KARE 11 anchor and reporter.
Turner, a well-known Twin Cities radio personality, will join 96.3 K-TWIN full time and broadcast each day from noon to 3 p.m.
The new lineup begins Jan. 2, 2013.
"We are committed to hiring the best local talent possible to serve and entertain the listeners of the Twin Cities," said Sam Elliot Gagliardi, Senior Vice President and General Manager. "We could not be more excited about bringing B.T., Rena and Cane together on one station. Together with current personalities Eric Perkins and Dan Riggs, I know that they will deliver the best possible entertainment centered around community, sports and music to the Twin Cities."
The 2013 radio home for Minnesota Twins Baseball, K-TWIN FM is described by its owners as a lifestyle station for the Twin Cities that blends up-tempo, mass-appeal adult hit music, intelligent and entertaining content, with important sports and news with a community focus.
K-TWIN is owned by Northern Light Broadcasting.
Sarigianopoulos is a weekend news co-anchor and co-host of KARE 11 Saturday. She also has worked as a reporter at stations in Milwaukee; Madison, Wis.; Dubuque, Iowa; and Youngstown, Ohio.
"What an awesome opportunity to do something I've always dreamed about. Radio and music have always played a huge role in my life and to actually be part of it now is ridiculously cool," Sarigianopoulos said. "And, to be able to do it with Eric and Cane and K-TWIN only makes it that much more exciting."
Turner is perhaps most recognized as a long-time broadcaster at Cities 97 and the legendary REV-105. "From my time at Armed Forces Radio to now, none of my experiences in radio have me quite as excited as becoming a part of K-TWIN," Turner said. "The synergy that comes from local ownership that's genuinely committed to the community, Twins baseball and a top notch staff of professionals dedicated to creating radio magic, it all leaves me breathless and smiling very broadly."
Peterson, a Minnesota native and former Twin Cities broadcaster who has worked for Sirius/XM radio, K-ROCK in New York City and ESPN television, will join the station full-time after moving back from New York City.
"Two words: Dream job! Mornings on K-TWIN in my hometown is special enough, but the opportunity to work alongside my beloved Twins makes this that much more incredible," Peterson said.
Gagliardi said to "stay tuned" for more on-air announcements soon.
