NORTH MANKATO, Minn. - A 63-year-old man died Monday afternoon after his vehicle and was hit by an oncoming semi.
The Minnesota State Patrol says James Hughes of North Mankato was traveling southbound on Highway 169 when his Jeep lost control, jumped the median and was hit by a semi traveling north.
The Mankato Free Press is reporting Hughes was a former assistant principal with the St. Peter school district.
The accident happened just north of Highway 14 near North Mankato.
The 61-year-old driver of the semi sustained minor injuries.
There were no other passengers in either of the vehicles involved.
