BRIDGE CREEK, Wis. - A dive team in Eau Claire County has recovered a man's body from a pond near Augusta.

Sheriff's officials say they got a call about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday from someone concerned about a missing family member. The caller feared 60-year-old Christian Borntreger might have broken through thin ice on a pond behind their farm in the Town of Bridge Creek.

The Augusta-Bridge Creek Fire Department, Fall Creek Fire Department and Township Fire/Rescue arrived at the scene and conducted a cold water search of the pond.

A dive team located Borntreger's body just after 8 p.m.  Borntreger was a resident at the location and had gone on the pond to retrieve farm animals. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
