GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The school shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT has ignited a national debate on gun control and safety in our schools.
Gun control groups are stepping forward, along with lawmakers, for a stronger stance on guns in our laws. Many question what can be done to stop a lone attacker bent on murder.
Schools are now reviewing and tightening security in their buildings as they try to address the issue.
KARE 11 Sunrise invited two guests, Chief Paul Schnell with Hastings Police Dept. and Chief Michael Goldstein with Plymouth Police Dept., to talk about these issues becoming more prevalent in our daily lives recently.
