GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - As the nation continues to mourn the loss of the lives lost in the Newtown school shooting, the incident is becoming a catalyst to bring the issue of mental health to the forefront.
Studies from the group "Fight Crime: Invest in Kids" shows one in five children, ages nine to seventeen have some sort of diagnosable mental health disorder impairing their lives.
Though in any given year, four out of five of those children fail to receive the necessary treatment.
Minnesota Representative Mindy Greiling has dealt with the issue both in her professional career, and in her personal life, and spoke with KARE 11 Sunrise about her experiences.
