MINNETONKA, Minn. -- If you're heading to the mall this weekend, you are so completely, dreadfully, amazingly not alone.
According to the National Retail Federation, the average person is only half done with his or her holiday shopping. The NRF also says a full 10 percent of people won't start their shopping until Christmas Eve, while another 4 percent wait until the day after Christmas.
But there just may be a reward for procrastinators -- with everything from around-the-clock hours, to deep December discounts.
"We do like to be the convenient place for the customer to shop, so if it's helping them out, we're glad to do that," said Scott Bartos, manager at the Ridgedale Macy's, which is open straight through the weekend.
"We're here until midnight on Sunday night," Bartos added.
As for why so many waited for so long, every reason becomes its own Christmas shopping tale.
"There really is no good excuse, but I guess just work," said Ben Ehrmann of Minnetonka.
"It's the nature of the holidays. You try to get as much done as you can, but things are busy," said Laura Heuer.
