PLYMOUTH, Minn. -- An early morning apartment fire has displaced three families.

The deputy chief says a 3-alarm fire started around 3:30 a.m. this morning at the Granite Woods Apartment on Lancaster Lane. The fire was contained to three apartments.

Multiple fire departments were called to assist Plymouth as firefighters battled the cold as well as the fire.

Fire officials tell KARE 11 that this was the second call to the apartment complex this morning, but it is unknown if those calls were related.

There were no reports of injuries and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting 6 people affected by the fire.
