Free rides on Metro Transit on New Year's Eve

MINNEAPOLIS - New Year's Eve revelers looking for a safe way home can get a free ride on Metro Transit buses and light rail.

On December 31 free rides will be offered from 6 p.m. through the last scheduled trip on bus and rail routes operated by Metro Transit, the Metropolitan Council or Minnesota Valley Transit Authority. The free ride offer is not valid on Northstar.

The free rides are sponsored by Metro Transit and Miller Lite.

Customers are encouraged to plan ahead for a safe ride home. The Hiawatha light-rail line and more than 26 bus routes will offer trips after midnight on Dec. 31. Extra late-night trips leaving downtown on the Hiawatha Line have been added at 2:13 a.m. and 2:57 a.m.
