PRIOR LAKE, Minn. - The frigid temperatures have many thinking pond hockey and ice fishing.
Adam Block with the Minnesota DNR says lakes and ponds in the Twin Cities are averaging 5 to 6 inches of ice right now. The DNR has laid out ice thickness guidelines here. Those guidelines say you shouldn't be walking on ice 2 inches or less and you need at least 8 inches to drive a car on it.
KARE 11's Bryan Piatt spent the morning on Prior Lake learning about ice safety.
