GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. - A woman who was shot just days before Christmas has died, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.
Rosemary Oberg-Johnson, 59, and her son, Paul Russell Johnson, were shot on December 22 in Grand Rapids. Soon after the shooting, they were airlifted to a Duluth hospital.
On Saturday, another statement was released stating Oberg-Johnson had succombed to her injuries. Her son remains in the hospital in critical condition.
The alleged shooter, 26-year-old William Payne, is being held in the Itasca County Jail on charges of first-degree attempted murder, as well as kidnapping, terroristic threats, burglary, assault and violating an order for protection. An amended criminal complaint is expected early next week.
