MINNEAPOLIS - A man who was found stabbed in South Minneapolis on Saturday has died of his injuries.
According to Sgt. Stephen McCarty with the Minneapolis Police Department, officers responded to an apartment building in the 5700 block of 33rd Avenue South around 5:30 p.m. on the report of a stabbing. When medical personnel arrived on scene, they found an adult male and transported him to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Several hours later, the man succombed to his injuries. There are currently no suspects in custody, however, McCarty says preliminary information suggests there is no risk to the general public.
The identity of the victim, and the exact cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
The Minneapolis Police Department's Homicide Unit is now investigating the case. They are asking anyone with information regarding the stabbing to call the department's tip line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
