MINNEAPOLIS -- A man is now charged with murder after a fatal weekend stabbing in Minneapolis.
Rick Martinez, 34, was charged Monday with one count of Second Degree murder.
Authorities say the incident happened around 5:30 Saturday evening at an apartment on the 5700 block of 33rd Avenue South.
When police arrived on the scene they found an man with life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) where he died several hours later.
A criminal complaint issued by the Hennepin County Attorney's office says the victim's two roommates told police they had been drinking with Martinez, who lived across the hall. One witness said the victim and Martinez had argued about whether Martinez could get more to drink.
The complaint says Martinez left the room, then returned and stabbed the victim. The suspect was arrested Sunday after he returned to the building and was detained by neighbors.
Martinez is currently being held in the Hennepin County Jail.
